Welcome To The Global Sports Coaching Tennis Journal!
The Global Web site for Tennis Coaching!
Dear Tennis Enthusiast
Issue 21, March 2008
After an exciting Fed and Davis Cup round, players are enjoying the US hardcourt tournaments before preparing for the European clay court season and French Open. Can Djokovic crash into the top 2; and can Henin stop the crowd [Sharopova, Williams, Ivanovic etc...] from crashing her party. The post Australian Open circuit certainly has many questions to be answered. After closing 2007 so dominantly - Henin and Federer have left the door open at the start of the new season.
The reason for Roger Federer's lethargic start to the season was explained by a dose of glandular fever. Hopefully he can shake off the lingering effect of this draining illness and continue his dominance of the grand slam events. This months newsletter features the final instalment of the Federer File series of articles as well as Week 15 Lesson Plan; Developing Explosive Speed as a special offer for members of a free e-book - The Athletes MInd.
Enjoy!!!
We hope you enjoy the newsletter and please keep the feedback coming in, we want to hear what you think of the web site and what you would like to see more of. Send feedback to admin@globalsportscoaching.com

Eight Steps to Developing Blazing Speed - Developing Explosive Starts Step 5
By David Horne
I have included this "Explosive Start" section into the speed development model as this is often one area neglected by athletes. Many sports require the athlete to start from a stationary position as well as trying to achieve to maximum speed while on the run.
If two athletes have similar a speed score when performing the flying 20 speed test, yet one athlete excels over the other athlete when performing speed tests from a stationary position then it is likely that this athlete has a better start. This contributes to his success when it comes to being faster......
The " 8 Steps to Becoming a Faster Athlete" Include:
- Flexibility
- Strength Training
- Developing a Strong Core
- Power Training
- Developing Explosive Starts
- Reactive Speed / Anticipation
- Agility Training
- Functional Training
This article covers Explosive Starts and Speed....Read Full Article>>>>
